I understand that for many, seeking therapy is a daunting process that can be overrun with feelings of doubt. Emotions, including anxiety, sadness, guilt, stress, overwhelmingness, and depression exist on a spectrum, and individuals who seek therapy often question whether their feelings are “deserving” of therapy.

I believe that a culturally-sensitive individualized and integrative approach allows each client’s needs to be met throughout the therapeutic process, collaboratively working towards the unique goals for therapy and this is what I strive to foster. As such, a sense of safety and understanding is my highest priority and I aim to honour the importance of the therapeutic relationship to create their courageous changes.

At times, clients may encounter a profound sense of overwhelm when embarking on the journey of therapy. In this moment of uncertainty, doubts may arise regarding the potential effectiveness of therapy and whether it will truly bring the desired help. Furthermore, there is often an internal pressure to possess a level of progress far beyond their current state, as if they need to have already accomplished significant steps before even starting. Consequently, the path ahead may seem obscured, making it challenging to envision a clear way forward. It’s important to remember that these feelings are common and acknowledging them can be a significant step towards finding the support and guidance needed to navigate the therapeutic process.

The solution to the challenges clients face when starting therapy lies in a holistic, somatic, and diverse therapeutic approach that holds profound meaning. By embracing a holistic perspective, therapy extends beyond addressing the mind alone, recognizing the interconnectedness of the mind, body, and spirit. This comprehensive approach provides clients with a safe and nurturing space to explore their emotions, thoughts, and bodily sensations, facilitating a transformative healing experience. Incorporating somatic practices further enhances the therapeutic journey by inviting clients to connect with their bodies, accessing the wisdom and information held within. Through techniques such as body awareness, breathwork, and mindful movement, clients develop a deeper understanding of their emotions and experiences, fostering self-compassion, self-regulation, and embodiment.

In addition to the holistic and somatic components, integrating different therapeutic approaches ensures a tailored and flexible treatment that meets the unique needs of each client. By drawing from a range of modalities such as CBT, DBT, psychodynamic therapy, trauma-informed therapy, anger management, Exposure Therapy, Couple and family Therapy, LGBTQ+ concerns, and grief and loss therapy. This diversity allows for a dynamic and versatile approach, addressing various aspects of the client’s well-being and fostering a sense of empowerment and engagement in the therapeutic process. Through the integration of these holistic, somatic, and diverse therapeutic approaches, clients are guided on a transformative path towards self-discovery, healing, and personal growth. They develop a deeper sense of self-awareness, resilience, and acceptance, paving the way for meaningful change and a renewed sense of purpose in their lives. Therapy becomes a collaborative and empowering journey, enabling clients to find their unique path forward, ultimately leading to enhanced well-being and a more fulfilling life.

As a therapist, I strive to create a safe and nurturing space for my clients by integrating a holistic, somatic, and diverse therapeutic approach. Recognizing the interconnectedness of their mind, body, and spirit, I aim to provide an environment where clients feel deeply seen, heard, and supported. By incorporating somatic practices, I guide clients to reconnect with their bodies, fostering a sense of safety, grounding, and trust in their own inner wisdom. Additionally, I draw from a range of therapeutic modalities, tailoring the treatment to meet each client’s unique needs and preferences. Through this collaborative and empathetic journey, I facilitate a transformative experience where clients can explore their inner selves, develop resilience, and embrace their authentic truth. Ultimately, my goal is to cultivate a safe space that nurtures healing, growth, and empowerment, allowing clients to embark on a meaningful path towards lasting positive change and well-being.

She is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), and British Columbia College of Social Workers (BCCSW). With over 7 years of experience working within the mental health field, she has had the opportunity to engage in grassroots work, both within her community and internationally. This includes working at health clinics, hospitals, facilitating community group therapy work, while providing culturally competent and culturally sensitive care. This work has led her to develop a special interest in working in women’s health, specifically working with women who have experienced sexual trauma and gender-based violence.

Quote: We are all walking each other home.”- Ram Das

This is one of my favourite quotes and I think speaks beautifully to what I have learned doing this work. Human beings all experience so much pain, suffering, hardship, and adversity, yet also, are able to experience deep love, passion, hope and strength, sometimes even experiencing both oppositions at the same time, simultaneously. This work continues to reinforce how resilient humans are, despite each and every one of us experiencing adversity and it is incredibly admirable.

Sometimes we can feel stuck in patterns which feel beyond our control. We react and feel discouraged by circumstances we repeatedly find ourselves in and it seems there is nothing that works, nothing gets better, no one understands.

I utilize a trauma-informed, long-term perspective using methodologies such as Schema therapy to uncover the root causes that perpetuate damaging patterns. Sessions look at embracing challenges as opportunities for learning while understanding the factors that have contributed to our behavior, challenging unhelpful beliefs, and committing to change.

Sessions are a space for reflection and learning, of reconciling the past with the present and choosing directions that work for you, the client.
