I understand that for many, seeking therapy is a daunting process that can be overrun with feelings of doubt. Emotions, including anxiety, sadness, guilt, stress, overwhelmingness, and depression exist on a spectrum, and individuals who seek therapy often question whether their feelings are “deserving” of therapy.
I believe that a culturally-sensitive individualized and integrative approach allows each client’s needs to be met throughout the therapeutic process, collaboratively working towards the unique goals for therapy and this is what I strive to foster. As such, a sense of safety and understanding is my highest priority and I aim to honour the importance of the therapeutic relationship to create their courageous changes.

Life can bring unexpected challenges that affect one’s sense of self, relationships, family dynamics, education, and career. These challenges can leave you feeling anxious, emotionally exhausted, and uncertain about your next steps. You might find yourself stuck in self-doubt, overthinking decisions, or struggling with a relentless inner critic. In the midst of it all, reaching out for support can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re used to carrying everything on your own.
I offer a gentle and compassionate space where you can begin to make sense of what you’re going through and feel less alone in the process. I work with children, adolescents, and adults navigating anxiety, low self-esteem, interpersonal challenges, and difficulties setting boundaries. My approach is collaborative, client-centered, and deeply empathetic. I draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) while also integrating principles from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) to meet your unique needs.
My hope is that in working together, you will cultivate a stronger sense of self, build more meaningful connections, and feel more confident navigating life’s stressors. In a space rooted in compassion and collaboration, we will explore new ways of responding to challenges and help you reconnect with what matters most to you. I’m here to support you in moving toward a life that feels grounded, purposeful, and aligned with your values.
Experience: Kyla is currently completing her Master of Science in Psychotherapy at McMaster University, where she also earned an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Social Psychology. She is passionate about offering a well-rounded therapeutic experience, blending her training in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with principles from other therapeutic modalities to create a personalized approach for her clients.
Kyla has always had a special passion for working with children and has supported them in various capacities over the years. One of her most rewarding experiences involved designing and facilitating a dance movement therapy program for children aged 5 to 12. The program blended creative expression with therapeutic tools to help address challenges like anxiety, bullying, communication difficulties, and feelings of loneliness. In addition to her work with children, Kyla has volunteered with local community centers, mental health charities, and post-secondary support groups. Through this work, she has gained valuable experience supporting adults navigating anxiety, low self-esteem, interpersonal difficulties, and school challenges. Most recently, Kyla completed her first practicum at the Mood Disorders Clinic at St. Joseph’s Healthcare, where she co-facilitated emotion regulation therapy groups for those with depressive disorders. These diverse experiences have strengthened her understanding of the unique challenges people face at different stages of life and reinforced her commitment to creating a supportive space for all clients.
Kyla strives to create an environment where clients feel genuinely seen, heard, and supported. With warmth, empathy, and a non-judgmental presence, she works collaboratively to help individuals develop new ways of coping with life’s challenges and stressors. She is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), and British Columbia College of Social Workers (BCCSW). With over 7 years of experience working within the mental health field, she has had the opportunity to engage in grassroots work, both within her community and internationally. This includes working at health clinics, hospitals, facilitating community group therapy work, while providing culturally competent and culturally sensitive care. This work has led her to develop a special interest in working in women’s health, specifically working with women who have experienced sexual trauma and gender-based violence.
Quote: We are all walking each other home.”- Ram Das
This is one of my favourite quotes and I think speaks beautifully to what I have learned doing this work. Human beings all experience so much pain, suffering, hardship, and adversity, yet also, are able to experience deep love, passion, hope and strength, sometimes even experiencing both oppositions at the same time, simultaneously. This work continues to reinforce how resilient humans are, despite each and every one of us experiencing adversity and it is incredibly admirable.

Life’s path is not always straightforward and navigating it can be overwhelming. Sometimes the way we relate to our thoughts, parts of ourselves, others, or our pasts can lead us to feeling stuck in life, out of control, and acting in ways that remove us from the connections and activities that give our lives meaning.

Therapy is a transformative journey, but it can come with challenges. Finding a therapist whose approach and communication style aligns with your needs take times. Sharing personal experiences and embracing vulnerability can feel intimidating. Stigma, self-doubt, and the slow nature of progress may also add to the difficulty. However, with consistency and commitment, therapy can foster true personal growth and resilience.
I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is key to a successful treatment experience. Using a collaborative, client-centred approach, I focus on tailoring therapy to each individual’s unique needs, values, strengths, and goals. From there, we can explore various evidence-based therapeutic modalities and identify what resonate most to you and supports your healing journey.
My passion lies in supporting individuals by creating a safe and empowering environment for self-exploration. I want to help clients recognize their strengths, develop skills to overcome challenges, stay committed to their goals, and build resilience to apply what they’ve learned in everyday life.

Sometimes we can feel stuck in patterns which feel beyond our control. We react and feel discouraged by circumstances we repeatedly find ourselves in and it seems there is nothing that works, nothing gets better, no one understands.
I utilize a trauma-informed, long-term perspective using methodologies such as Schema therapy to uncover the root causes that perpetuate damaging patterns. Sessions look at embracing challenges as opportunities for learning while understanding the factors that have contributed to our behavior, challenging unhelpful beliefs, and committing to change.
Sessions are a space for reflection and learning, of reconciling the past with the present and choosing directions that work for you, the client.

My goal is to empower clients to rediscover their internal resilience to help them to face life’s challenges with confidence, as well as collaboratively work to improve their overall well-being and quality of life. As a passionate psychotherapist, I am dedicated to helping clients rediscover their joy and get back into the driver’s seat of life.
I strive to create a safe, trusting, inclusive, and non-judgemental space where clients can feel comfortable sharing their lived experiences with me, as well as explore and make sense of their struggles. With the help of humour and diving into the different realms of an identity, we can uncover valuable insights that contribute to personal growth, self-acceptance, and a sense of fulfillment. My goal is to empower clients to embrace their unique strength, integrate their beliefs and values, and find greater meaning and purpose in their lives.

We all face our own challenges. Whether it’s stress, overwhelm, anxiety, depression. Sometimes we feel like no one could ever understand what we are going through. Life can feel so heavy, and sometimes we just need a little extra support. That’s why my priority is to focus on the building a genuine, trusting, non-judgmental relationship where you can feel understood and supported. This relationship is the foundation for change and growth in therapy with my clients.
You don’t have to figure it out on your own. Together we can explore what’s been weighing on you, and what it might look like to move forward. I use evidence-based, holistic approaches to tailor our sessions to best fit your needs. Not only to help you get “back to normal,” but to help you excel.
I believe that meaningful changes come from feeling both challenged and supported. I help clients recognize their strengths and develop new skills to overcome life’s challenges with clarity and confidence. Establishing a safe environment and setting goals is only the beginning of the therapeutic process. My hope is that my clients walk away from therapy feeling resilient to the struggles that once held them back.
Experience: Jonathan’s experience as a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) begins with his time as a crisis line responder at Canada Suicide Prevention Services, assisting service users in times of intense emotional distress. In addition, he was able to get experience in the clinical setting at the Family Psychology Centre in Toronto as an administrative assistant, where his work ranged from paperwork to moderating an EFT workshop. Jonathan’s education at York University, and now, Yorkville University have equipped him with the theoretical knowledge that will underpin his work, in sessions.
Life Outside of Sessions: I love spending time with my wife. She is very warm, caring, and gives me a sense of ease. At home, we make smoothies and watch shows on Netflix. Outside the home, you may find me out for a run on the track, followed by a bubble tea shop to cool off.

Growing up in mainland China and attending schools in Canada and Hong Kong, I experienced firsthand the challenges of navigating complex, overlapping cultural and emotional landscapes. Many of my clients face similar feelings of disorientation, whether it’s self-doubt, emotional overwhelm, or strained relationships, leaving them stuck in cycles of frustration or disconnection.
As a therapist with a background in finance, I combine empathy with structured, evidence-based approaches like EMDR, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and mindfulness. In our sessions, we’ll create a collaborative space rooted in trust and compassion, where we untangle unhelpful thought patterns, strengthen emotional resilience, and clarify your core values and goals.
Therapy isn’t just about solving problems, it’s about unlocking your innate capacity for growth, self-worth, and fulfillment. Together, we’ll transform challenges into opportunities for deeper understanding and lasting change. I’d be honored to walk alongside you on this journey toward a more empowered and meaningful lif
